I agree with everyone else I would let your mom help in picking one out.
Instead of getting the pup maybe get items for a new pup and I IOU and tell her that you will let her pick one out with you.
I think that will make you both Happy. ... the pup in the picture may not be Yorkie standard but she is a Cutie pie
