I rescued my Bridgette she did NOT come from a "rescue" but when we met her and found out about her terrible past and soon to be kennel life being bred every heat by a byb who's only concern was money, we had to save her. We did "pay" for her but she wouldn't have let her go otherwise.
I think rescue is the best way to go. I have both rescue and purebred. But there are so many homeless dogs if it's fits your life I suggest to always rescue.
