Whether or not you can afford or are willing to pay the asked price for a dog has nothing to do with whether or not you
deserve one.
That's not what anyone is trying to say at all. Deserving a pet and paying for one are not even remotely comparable.
My grandmother's car is close to being on it's last wheel. She can't afford a new one at this point, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't
deserve one. It simply means that she either can't afford one, or isn't willing to pay the money being asked for them (yet).
