Ok, so my 2 1/2 year yorkie, when he's let outside, he wanders down the street, sniffing, and peeing on basically everything (he is not fixed) my question is, we've tried everything to get him to understand, he can't wander out of his yard like that, but nothing has worked. Is this just his personality, and it's not correctable?

My suggestion is to leash the dog any time he crosses the threshold of your home, and if you're riding him around in the car, I would put him in a small dog carrier.
Letting your dog roam loose in your car while you drive is dangerous to you, him, and other drivers. He could distract you into a car accident which could kill you or someone else, and he could be killed by the impact of being thrown across the car in even a minor wreck. I've read of yorkies dying from just jumping off the bed in this forum. Imagine what would happen if he smashed into the dashboard of your car?

I believe any dog can be trained off leash it really just comes to the attachment and trust the dog has in you. If your dog gets plenty of excersice he will not feel the need to wander.

I believe that no matter how much a person loves/trusts their dog and no matter how much their dog loves/trusts them, that will not make them feel better if their dog suddenly gets a wild hair, streaks out into the street, and becomes a fluffy little road waffle...
