I think you've got a fighting chance with the Yorkie. I spend much more time with Eddie than my wife does, but he's her dog. There was a time when he started favoring me, but I didn't encourage it. The main thing is he sleeps next to her. When he started coming over to my side of the bed, I moved him over next to her.
