Is husband always going to be the Alpha??(Long) Hello,
I am new to this forum and I absolutely LOVE it!
I have a question about my new puppy. My husband and I have 2 pets and just bought another. We have a poodle, yorkipoo and now a yorkie.
When we married, my husband had a chow and I had a poodle. My poodle was 10/11 years when we met and married and was my shadow completely. He followed me everywhere and had little to do with my husband, which made my husband a little jealous. His chow was just about the same with him. Anyway, after my sweet baby died at age 12, I waited about 6 months and got the 2nd poodle. He automatically favored my husband, right away. Always ran to him first when we would come home, sat in his lap (mostly) would even nip at me if i pretend rough-housed with my husband. So I just accepted this and when he was 1 year old, we got the yorkipoo. Same thing, except for the aggressiveness. This is the sweetest dog on earth. Truly. But he completely favors my husband. We were told this had something to do with my husband being the alpha male from a trainer.
So now we have the little yorkie puppy(female) and she already gets along with the other two somewhat. She kinda runs the roost right now. She is 13 weeks old. It's too early to tell about cuddling with her, she just wants to go run and play and not be held by either of us yet.
My question is this: Is it a given, that this puppy is going to go straight for my husband also? I just crave having a "lap dog" like my old faithful poodle.
Dont get me wrong, my other two greet me, play with me and sleep by me too, its just obvious that I am their second choice..lol
Thanks for any insight or advice. Sorry this is so long.
I really love this site and look forward to reading posts! |
