Husband is going to buy any and everything he has heard me mention I like, or think is cute, over the past year. Seriously. I have learned to really reel in my comments, I have ended up with the kitchen aid mixer and other gadgets I would have preferred to just lust over vs. have the cabinet clutter. |
In my family, we are the same. We're not rich, and my mom still gets my dad and brothers underwear, socks or undershirts for birthdays or christmas. It's never been weird for me until I moved in with my current roommates. My boyfriend's family are bigger spenders, usually getting him big ticket items (tv's, digital cameras, mp3 players, etc) but he never made a big deal that my presents for him were always smaller. But, now that I am living with my current roommates I am INTIMIDATED by what I see/hear they spend on their boyfriends and family. A $300 mixer, a new laptop, hockey tickets, $500 purses....
Big difference from socks and underwear to well...more expensive gifts. If you're boyfriend is the same it could be that gifts make him uncomfortable. I can say that I really feel uncomfortable because my roommates boyfriends are all getting at least 3 presents and my boyfriend will be lucky to get one (I'm saving up for a puppy
) to me it's like my boyfriend isn't going to feel special this year and that's not a good feeling. Maybe I'll "splurge" and get him some new jammies....
