Just a comforting thought, I remember about a month ago reading an article that in California and Florida vets are now doing dentals without putting the dogs under unless they absolutely can't do it any other way. So I'm really hoping this will catch on, so that we don't have to put our dogs under. I've also heard that chlorophyll is helpful for teeth, but I know that some dogs are just prone to more dental issues.
