True, but depending on the occasion.If the dress you'll be wearing is similar in style, to the one pictured, it will look better with a black scarf.Different prints are in style, as long as they complement each other, BUT, be careful, if what you are trying to do is camouflage something, having different prints will only make it more noticeable, I'll say go with black.
