I am so very sorry for your lice woes. They are a pain in the patatootie. I worked in an elementary school for 13 years - although I am not an expert - have never ever had the critters nor have my children, this is what I have learned .....

Be sure your daughter understands that she didn't do anything wrong - a lot of kids feel dirty, or feel like they did something terrible to wind up with the lice.

Be sure that your daughter understands that she can pick up lice from just about any article of clothing, brush, comb, etc. so it is very important that she NEVER EVER use someone else's comb, brush, jacket, sweater, and most of all NEVER NEVER EVER wear someone else's hat. All it takes is to pick up one stray nit and you are in the lice business.

The lice shampoos are very harsh and if over used can actually be very harmful. Using occasionally should not cause a problem, but if you have a heavy infestation and they recurr there are electronic lice combs that are battery operated and kill the lice when you comb the hair. That way you are not subjecting your precious little one to harsh chemical pestisides on her head.

Be sure to treat the entire home and everything washable. A commercial laundrymat is a perfect place to take big things that won't fit in y our home washer/dryer.

Retreat every 7 to 10 days for as long as you see even one nit or one lice. Be sure to wash ALL of the clothes, towels, bath linens. treat curtains, carpets, etc.
