The main reason of the price difference is that there are just NOT a lot of these dogs around. Open your newspaper or look online and you can see that. For instance on this is a quick look on Puppyfind. There are 173 Biewers for sale while there are a whopping 2,914 yorkshires for sale. That makes a big difference!
Then you look at how much these dogs cost us all in the first place. I paid $3500 plus flying to PA to get my Halle - that came to $4000 total for just her.
Then you look into stud service. A yorkie stud service runs around here anyway around $400 while with a Biewer most are asking $1000 PLUS that usually means you need to ship in the semen..pay for tests on your female to make sure it is the perfect time..and shipping overnight is pretty $ - about $60 each time and you they suggest you do it twice. Add everything up and your looking at around $1500 just for the stud service alone!
Where you register depends on cost too. I had to become a member of the IBC and registered two puppies - that came up to approx. $200!
Halle has had one litter and she had two girls. One I sold with full breeding rights for $2500 with shipping included and the other girl turned out very small. She was 2.4 lbs at 7 months - I was going to keep her for show/breeding, but she turned out too small. After a protein C test ($120) I sold her on spay/neuter contract with no papers until vet's confirmation for $1800 picked up. There are yorkies out there for that price too!
I hope that helps a little with why the higher prices?
