Parvo is horrible. I just delt with that this past July. Bleach EVERYTHING! i mean everything. Mix it up 3 to 1. for every 3 cups of water, put 1 cup of bleach. Do the floors the baseboards, doors. anywhere where the dog has been or you have stepped with your feet / shoes. throw away everything that belonged to the dog.(beds ect). I also went as crazy as to spray the yard with bleach. It doesnt kill grass, but it does kill weeds.(I never could find the parvo killer sprays, only place i found them were online) I took ALLL of the laundry in our house and washed it with bleach, i also cleaned the bottom of our shoes with bleach water. I just about cleaned every thing i have ever touched in my house. it took me about 7 hours to do the entire house... when you do the floors, the bleach water needs to sit for about 10-20 mins soaking. I also let mine dry naturaly.. so mine set for a while and even though once was enough, i did mine 2 more times.
I did my yard because i was military, and moving out of the house in a month, and didnt want a family moving in (or next door neighbors new puppy that was 10 weeks) to get it and go through what i went through.. Also... dont bury a dog in the back yard or ground that has died of parvo... it will stay int he dirt for a very long time.
My puppy was a chihuahua that was 6 months old, and had all shots. Even though your puppy is vaccinated it can still get it. Small chance but its still possible. somethings you just cannot prevent.
I will now, no longer allow people in my house with shoes on. You never know what is in their house, or where their feet have been!
Im very sorry for your loss. |
