I have been some form of vegetarian for about 15 years. I did it because I just don't like the way meat tastes, smells, or makes me feel. After going without it for so long, I actually have an allergy to pork, beef, and turkey-my body no longer makes the enzymes to break those proteins down. If I accidentally eat them, I get REALLY sick.
I ate vegan for awhile, but during my teen years I didn't do it right, and lost SO much weight, so I added the milk & cheese back in. Then I got anemic and really was still protein deficient, so I added a little chicken back in. I have always eaten fish & seafood-to me that is different, and doesn't make me feel the way other meats do.
Anyway-for your thanksgiving-what about a salad of some kind? I have several ideas for you if you think that might work...try greens topped with pear, onion, candied walnuts & pomegranate-looks fancy and is SO good.
Or how about rosemary yams? I can send you the recipe-it's yams only savory, not sweet.
