People food smells just as good as dog food, so from her perspective there's no reason not to share.
There's a couple things you can try:
- Designate a place for her to sit during meal times - like right outside the room. If she comes back in, walk her back with the "bump" technique -- get in front of her and slowly walk forward, forcing her to back up until she's back in her spot.
- For barking, canned air works if you want to use a small disincentive.
- Give her a "timeout" in another room until she stops barking, and then let her back in. Lather, rinse, repeat.
- Or yes, just put her in her crate.
- If you choose to train her to wait away from the table, it can help to give her some small scraps when the meal is over, but only if she has behaved. If she did, she deserves a reward for showing such restraint in the face of overwhelming temptation.
