Oh...this is a NEW puppy? If so, I'm with Judy - you really should get him to the vet ASAP if he is possibly coughing. If it's kennel cough, it can proceed to pneumonia in puppies - so kennel cough needs to be treated asap in pups.
I'd bring him in.
