I have asthma to and so do my children and I dont think any of us are helpless because of it! Youve just got to realize it isnt what you do or dont do,,,he needs alittle changing himself!! He sounds very insecure and you can't change that for him.My now boyfriend of 7 years is big and 10 years older than me and used to be jealous(not to the extent of my x).I had to come right out with it and tell him I will not put up with this bs,if your gonna keep it up,I will leave.I guess it all depends on how much you can take,,life is way to short and I live my life the way I want now.I take very good care of everyone in my family,,including myself,we all take care of eachother,it's about respect and empathy,and being considerate of everyones feelings.
