I read through the "Low Titer Again?" thread you posted....VERY good information!!

What I got from it, especially after reading how Dr. Shultz handles vaccinating his OWN animals, is that since I didn't titer her 2+ weeks after her last puppy shot (which was at ~16 wks), I ought to go ahead and do DHPP at one year, and then have her titered 2+ weeks after the vacc. THEN, if she it is positive, I no longer need to vaccinate her at all........

That being said, it seems to me these Dr's are basically equating "lifelong immunity" with 7-10 yrs. So my question is.....what if your pet lives LONGER than 7 yrs. (as is the case of many healthy Yorkies....and is what we are all hoping for too!) I read the following in Dr. Shutlz's FAQ's:
34. If an animal has gone beyond the time that is generally considered to be the maximum DOl for the vaccine (7 to 9 years for CDV, CPV-2, CAV-2; >1 year for Leptospira, Bordetella bronchiseptica; >3 years for rabies), do I have to start the series of vaccinations again (multiple doses 2 to 4 weeks apart)?
No - For MLV vaccines, multiple doses are only required at the puppy or kitten age, when an animal has MDA.

My understanding of this is that after the "maximum DOI for the vaccine", which is 7-9 yrs. for the Core Vacc's, he does NOT believe there is a need to start over with 2-4 wk. spaced vaccines because there is no need for multiple doses. However, IMO he didn't address whether we ought to give them a SINGLE dose at this point in time??? Should they be given a booster shot (which would last the REST of their lives) after 7-ish years??

So would you do as Dr. Dodds suggests and titer every year until they go low (which in Ellie's case, her CDV titer seems to STAY low), or do as Dr. Shultz suggests and titer 2-3 weeks after the 1 yr. booster, and never re-vaccinate again if that titer test was positive??
