Hi, I am new to this site and new to owning a yorkie... I adopted a female yorkie from a soldier about 2 weeks ago she weighs a little over 4lbs and I was told that she was a little over a year old when we got her. As any new pet owner I took her to the vet to have her checked out just for good cause, and to my surprise when the vet opened her mouth she had lots and lots of tarter on her teeth, that led the vet to think she was more like 2 to 3 years old. Another reason I took her in to see the vet was because she was very swollen on her bottom, and her boobies were pretty enlarged. The people who we adopted Pixie from had a new litter of yorkie pups so I kind of wanted to make sure that she herself wasnt pregnate from from the daddy of the pups since she is not fixed. The vet felt around and said that she was pretty swollen in her bottom but could have been from either coming into heat or coming out of heat, he didnt feel that she was pregnate at that time (2 weeks ago). Being new to the Yorkie breed I have alot of questions for anyone who can help me...
1. She seems constipated (takes forever to poo, and then poos a small amount)... what do I do?
2. She sleeps all the time... Is that normal??
3. Boobies are very large, she has never had puppies.. could she be pregnate, and what signs should I be watching for??
4. Bottom is pretty swollen (no discarge)
5. Not really eating... What brand of food do you recomend??
6. Exteamlly bad breath
7. Scratches her face by her nose and mouth off and on (thought maybe she had a sticker or something in her face, but cant find anything)
Anyone who can answer any of the questions above would be a great help, I have no clue on dealing with this cute little dog!
