When I had braces, they had to expand the roof of my mouth also,, they used an Expansion plate,,, I wonder if thats what your talking about,, It was the grossest,, they put this thing on the roof of your mouth and they gave ya this key and once a day you had to crank it,and it would widen and expand the roof of your mouth,, BUT food got stuck up there, and you would have to HACK it out.. Oh How I remember that 25 years ago! what a lasting impression it made! ANd when they finally removed it,, STINK! OMG.
.. Now that I have grossed you all out... But I do have nice straight teeth!

Im sure he'll do fine... good that he like his dentist. Cant believe how much braces are these days!
