My mom and I just got back from the movie. Both of us read the book. I have never liked a movie after reading the book, but there was something very special about this one. ALL of the performances were incredible (Queen Latifah was my favorite). Dakota Fanning was AMAZING, as were Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, and Sophia (I don't remember her last name). It was a really incredible movie. It was a tear-jerker, that's for sure. Make sure you bring tissues!
I thought it was really incredible to see how far society has come in the last 40 or so years - if you haven't read the book, a lot of it has to do with the discrimination against African Americans. Such a powerful message and SO well done.
Go see it!
