I have ran into a few breeders that do not dock tails. Out of curiosity, I asked my vet about having it done after I got the puppy ( this was the first time I was puppy hunting). She said if it is not done after three days, it is condsidered an amputation
if done later. The need to be put to sleep and it is cut off and then of course there is risk of infection and all sorts of things. She said if I got one and wished to have it done, she suggested to wait til it was spayed/neutered and only be put to sleep once. I decided if I did get one that didn't have it docked, it would just stay that way. Of course, I didn't get one like that.
