Very often these Yorkies have problems with the naso-lacrimal ducts. The solution is simple if they are only clogged from birth or acquired. When the vet is doing the dentals and altering at 6 months or so, they can flush the ducts. I have it done as a part of my first dentals. If the ducts cannot be flushed thru because they do not actually connect, then you have to make peace with the fact you are gonna do a lot of cleaning..A PA couple told me they call them "eye Schmutz" and I liked that better than the term "eye boogers" which I was using. Another calls them "eye goobers" LOL
You can use the saline solution used for lenses or make your own with boiled water and salt. Keep refrigerated. Then every day warm a bit of it and cleanse the face with cotton balls and the saline. Make sure to dry the solution from the fur. Smelly stuff is almost always infectious and needs to be handled by the vet..
