I'm in my last year (two more semesters to go!!) of graduate school. Zoe came home right before the semester started. We got used to life with her and then adjusted our school schedules to her.
While I'm still in school, each of my classes are 3 hours and only once a week. I'm home way more than I'm in class and Zoe doesn't spend much time alone.
Personally, I don't think I could have handled a puppy while in undergraduate. That said, as long as you set enough time for your puppy and are ready and willing than it doesn't matter what position you're in. Best of luck and welcome to YT!
