You are not crazy. I have my Hooks and I am in my junior year planning on heading into Law school. It makes school easier to handle... at least for me. I got mine around a break time and was able to truly bond with him before I had to go back to school on a regular basis and he has adjusted fine. I take him everywhere with me and even to work since my boss loves dogs and the women I work with are fine with it. He and my shih tzu are buddies too
