Toby, my chorkie was neutered at 6 months and he started to gain weight even though he was eating a little less than before. He is 11 months now and he walks for an hour every day and is hyper and always running around the house and garden but is still slightly on the porkie side 9we nicknamed him pavaroti for this). It is due to the fact that his body is producing less testosterone which has caused his thyroid to burn less calories. As long as they are healthy it dosn't matter if they are slightly plump, there is just more of them to love. However yorkie owners should be careful with keeping their dog at a reasonably healthy weight as they are predesposed to arthritis and other joint problems which can be excassebated by carrying too much weight.
