  I understand what you are saying, in a way. But I think if a family has priorities, then your family doesn't loose the true meaning of Christmas. As a parent, it is my duty to make sure that they are set an example by me and my husband. Our church has activities that we do all season long to keep the true meaning of Christmas. I don't have bratty kids telling me to" get me this or get me that", if they got that way, then my husband would bring them coal home for their stocking! ( he works at the coal dock) I love Christmas time, the first christmas decor to go out in my house is our Nativity set and  Advent wreath, we decorate out tree last but it is still fun. I start Christmas shopping early because I have 4 children to shop for and starting in December just doesnt work for me
