I had the same exact fear with my first 2 Yorkies! So, I opted to not have them spayed and did not have their teeth cleaned as I was scared to death. Well, fast forward 10 years. Amy and Samantha HAD to be spayed at 10 years of age, which is quite a bit more risky than if they were 1 year of age. Amy had a prolapsed uterus even though she had never been bred and Samantha got pyrometria and she had only been bred 3 times and her last litter was 5 years prior to the pyrometria.
I would look for a vet that is knowledgable with toy dogs. Maybe call around to other breeders of toy dogs and see who they use in your area.
