We prefer Deramaxx, also an NSAID, but I don't know if it's appropriate for post-operative care. My veterinarian never prescribes Rimadyl due to the increased amount of allergic reactions he sees with it. Just a thought. You should always express your concerns with your vet PRIOR to the surgery. Most are happy to talk with you as long as you don't interrupt their day or be demanding.
