Rimadyl does seem to have more reported side effects than other drugs but all NSAIDS carry some risk. Even after a few days there can be problems but the risk is pretty low when looking at how many dogs take it. It is not my first choice and I would use it more for chronic cases of arthritis where euthanasia is the other option. However, if my vet strongly felt that it was okay for a few days, I would let her make that decision. Ellie had to be given something else post spay (buprenomorphrine) because she can't have NSAIDS. It didn't seem to work too well though.
