How often should nursing be? Will the puppies be able to find the teats? The pups should nurse quite often, especially at first. They will instinctively be able to find the teats, but it never hurts to help the littler ones to find a teat with lots of milk and help it to latch on.
When can the mom take a bath? Really no hurry to give mom a full bath. Just use a warm washcloth to clean her bottom and to keep her nipples clean.
How much weight should the puppies gain to consider normal? Not sure how much weight is normal, but definitely do not want them to lose weight. Although I think I remember from my litter last year that they should double their birth weight by one week.
Thank you for now!
Jen | Congratulations and good luck with your two new ones. I hope the little one catches on to the latching on soon. Be sure they are kept nice and warm. |
