I forgot, we did that too when she was still sleeping in her crate. Except, we couldn't cover it completely....just the top and sides. She needed to be able to see out the front!

Also, as soon as I got her potty trained, I started leaving her out in my bedroom at night. Before that when she was still in her crate, she would wake me up a couple of times every night needing to potty. Once I got her trained and was sure she would potty only on her pad and not the floor, we started leaving her out (easier for us! She's pad trained, though, not outside trained.) Now, I can tell she sleeps in my hamper all night long without getting up to potty.
