I love love love my Peticure! I had to get the Elite because of the girls, but it was so worth it! I have used it on Liberty, Lucy and Scooter, and then took it over and did my neighbor's dogs! I'm actually having fun with it...a little addicted I'd say!
It's important to start the dogs off on the right paw with it, though. The op poster had it right.
I did this:
Grabbed some dog treat steaks and broke them into small pieces. Took the Peticure out and gave the dog treats while I let them look at it, sniff it and then touched their legs and feet with it while it was off.
Then I turned it on and continued to give them treats while I let the Peticure run, and placed it on their shoulders to get them used to the noise and vibration. While giving them treats, I worked the Peticure down their legs to their paws, and held it to the paws for a few seconds while giving treats. Then, I picked up one paw and touched a nail to the Peticure, without actually trimming it. Just to let them feel the vibration on the nail, and gave a treat. Then I actually trimmed a nail. And gave a treat.
I only had to do this for 2 days and now I can trim their nails any time with it and they do not mind at all! It is awesome!
I love the Peticure elite because it has a hole opening for different sized nails, and a guard to keep the dog safe. It also catches the nail dust in the cap, and you take off the nail guard to empty it.
I have used my filing band, the one it came with, on 5 dogs now. 4 of the dogs are 40-60 pounds, and only one is less than 10 pounds, and the band has been used a total of 18 times between all the dogs. I did buy the 20 replacement bands but I have not had to replace it yet.
I absolutely love this!!!!!! |
