Just wanted you all to know that Crissey is still doing GREAT! No recurrence, no symptoms! We are almost 4 months past her diagnosis and the docs at UGA now believe that her type was infectious and think (dare we believe?), she is CURED!!!
Thank you for all your support and my prayers remain with you all on your struggle to fight this awful disease.
I wanted to share this article with you from NC State. As most of you know by now, the University of Georgia (UGA), North Carolina State, and Cal Davis are the top 3 universities that study and treat encephalitis. They are the only three in the U.S. with 2 or more board-certified neurologists on faculty. (UGA has 3). (This, of course, doesn't include Dr. Sisson as he is in private practice. But he must be mentioned as a valuable resource in this fight)!!!
This article gives good basic information on the types, treatments, etc.
