Thanks again for the concern everybody. It was a long day. Went to bed last night at 4:30 a.m., woke up at 7, dropped him off at 10:15 and waited all day not knowing when the surgery was going to start. About the time I was getting ready to call and check at 6, the vet called and said he was just starting the procedure. So I picked him up around 8:30 and dropped him off at Pet Emergency for the night. Now I'm at work till 1.
Anyhow, the prognosis is good. Surgery went well, and he won't have to go in there again if everything works the way it's supposed to, which is expected. The danger, he says, is if the sciatic nerve or anus was damaged in the surgery. He doesn't anticipate it and says he would have been screaming in pain when he woke up if the nerve was cut, and he wasn't.
So much for the $40 I spent on his recent haircut, though. Half his body is bald.
