I just read your posts.... Hey you guys! I read your posts after I wrote my last post to you. So I need to answer those.
I wanted to tell you that we didn't have to supplement them at all. We were about 5 minutes away from that though. She was so sore on her stomach and I put a drop of formula on each nipple and then helped them carefully open their mouths so they could attach. And Wallah! It happened!
My mom made the whelping pudding yesterday before we picked them up so we'd have it. I have a great mom! Anyway, I gave her some of that and she absolutely loved it!!! This morning she ate about a cup of it. She won't leave the puppies now (Yay!) to drink water, which is good for the pups but not for her, so I put it in a medicine dropper, the kind you buy for kids medicines. And I filled it up with warm water (I haven't thought of using Karo, but I will do that too) and I felt that warm water would feel better than cold for her tummy. Anyway, she gulps it down in the dropper. The only reason she hasn't drank more than that, is because I am the one who stops. Since about 4:30 am this morning, she has drank about 2 cups of water. So anyway, I'm glad she got her colostrum in those puppies.
They gave me an antibiotic and some pain medicine. They used gas on her during her procedure and they gave her a double dose of the pain medicine. They said it's non-narcotic so it doesn't make her loopy or dazed
Its called Metacam Suspension liquid, which she likes the taste of that too.
And I have been stimulating them to make them use the bathroon too. I do it actually right before they nurse so that there is plenty of room for the the colostrum and milk and then after the nurse.
She has been panting alot this morning but not sure why? Is it the pain? And then after she nurses, she starts shaking. Is that the pain too?
Ok, I'll be back after my nap.
Bye for now, but not for long.
