My Shih Tzu is a picky eater, and my Yorkie loves dog food. From my experience, the only thing that stops a dog from being a picky eater is to consistently give him his dog food every day at a specific time. The dog is trying to manipulate you into feeding her human food (throwing a tantrum). Dogs will not let themselves starve if food is offer to them every day. My Shih Tzu went two days without eating, and I heard her stomach growling. On the third day, she decided to eat her dog food. Now she licks her lips when she sees me putting dog food in her bowl.
