Mine never had thick slimy black stuff like they talk about - but no hair & some dark spots. I just would put a light coat of the lotrimin on or use a q-tip dipped in the tree oil. Which was interesting because even though I couldn't see black stuff, there would be some rubbed off onto the q-tip. So I knew it was there - I think this helped kill the fungus in the skin - that, and the shampoo I mentioned earlier. It takes time for the hair to grow.

Personally, (and I have no scientific knowledge) I think that the fungus must block the pores or hair particles or whatever from growing. Once you get that fungus killed off, then their hair can grow again.
