I tried it one night and she hopped off my bed sometime during the night, pottyed in my bathroom and then sat next to my bed and cried until I woke up and picked her up. So I tried again a couple of weeks later (that was 2 weeks ago) and I got up to use the bathroom and came back to bed and sat in a wet spot! Do you realize how fast puppy tinkle soaks through 7 layers of bedding? I couldn't rip it off fast enough! In her crate she can go most nights and be clean and dry in the morning so I'm not sure how old she should be before I try again. It's getting colder at night and I think she would be so much happier with me!
I would continue to keep her in the crate at night until she is fully potty trained. This is what I did with mine. for the first year and a half he slept in his crate at night and I would let him out once at night. When he was about 11/2 I started to let hi sleep with me, which I enjoyed, but again later decided I would get a better night sleep if he slept by himself. So I made him a nice comfortable bed at the end of my bed. I also no longer have to take in out in the middle of the night. I take him out at bedtime and in the morning. I had to use the crate in the beginning to potty train him, without the crate I found it impossible. Once he was fully pottied trained he was no longer in need of the crate.

Good Luck!!
