Shaving your puppy won't affect the way the hair grows. Hair grows under the skin, and doesn't even know it's been shaved. A Yorkies hair texture and color changes a lot in the first two years and so a shave can make it look like it's changed, but it would have looked this way anyway. Short hair always has more curl/wave to it than longer hair, so people think that shaving makes curlier hair, it doesn't, and the curl of a hair is determined under the skin. The main reason people shave is because a puppy has gotten severely matted, and shaving is the best alternative. |
