she cannot swallow -- this drug was used for demodex mange not heart worm so it was a stronger dose than heart worm. The drug affects the mites neurologically and kills them. If it crosses the blood brain barrier of the animal it can leave a dog with seizures, coma and possible death.
She is in a coma state now
The dermatologist said interceptor can cause same reaction as heart guard but the doseage is much lower and only given once a month for this drug -- she was getting this drug daily with ketaconozole (antifungal drug) which could have been a mixture of the drugs as well -- who knows
