The regular blood tests the vets do don't check for liver problems. You need to ask your vet to do a bile acid test. The dog has to be fasted for 12 hours then blood is drawn, then the dog is fed and 2 hours later another blood draw is done. Normal counts for yorkies should be 25 or less, anything over that is an indication of some sort of problem. Most times if a reading is high, they will repeat the test later just to make sure, or do a different extensive test to determine what the problem is.
