It took only about 3 weeks for him to associate himself with his new name. Dogs don't identify with their names like we humans do, so it doesn't cause any emotional difficulty!
You can just say the new name and hand him a treat - and repeat lots of times! Before you know it - you'll say his name and he'll look right at you! |
