I'm new to this and thought I'd let you know how I manage with my guy. He's 2 and a rescue so I don't know much about his training. I've had him for 3 months and I had no idea what I was going to do when I had to go to work.
Luckily he's not a chewer but potty retraining was tough. I have a 10 hour day as well. I have a hallway that I use as his area. I put a big blue tarp down
and let it curl up the walls a bit. He has his bed, toys, blankets, pillow, water and a little food. I got the soft mesh gates that he can't climb up. After a few weeks I let him have access to my very small bathroom. He rarely does his business in there especially since I took the bath rugs out. He sleeps with me at night and twice now he has gotten up in the middle of the night and gone out to pee on the tarp. The move may have him a little stressed. I hope it works out for you whatever you decide to do. |
