I have both for Sam but we mostly use the retractable.


Sam is leashed train when I have him on the non retractable - meaning tht he will walk with me. I hate to use it tho because its so short and he loves to run!

I do not make him walk "properly" on the retractable. I let him run bc he loves it!

I do keep it short when we are in a busy parking lot if I am not carrying him. But other times, I let him go the full 16ft bc again, he loves to run and he loves me running behind him.

People may not agree but thats how we do it bc it works for us.
