Last week I was told with a blood sugar problem and a liver shunt problem then He is not a good candidate for surgery to possible correct an external liver shunt. I am treating him with lactulose and neomycin, he is on a special diet science k/d.
WE are showing him we love him. I have to keep him from the rest of my dogs because they have started picking on him, he as gotten weak and thin.
He will eat their food, his ammonia level was over 460 when a normal level is 0-90.

have you consulted with dr. tobia at university of tenessee as she is the best person for liver shunt. also have you joined the
Liver_Shunt_And_MVD_Support@yahoogroups.com as they are real supportive and can help you alot -- I am so sorry you are going through this but i would not do anything without first consulting with Dr Tobias and another expert is Dr Center from Cornell University -- These two are very knowlegeable about what you are dealing with
