That's really too bad. We used to be allowed dogs in our office too... not constantly, but I would ask my boss every once in awhile if I could bring Layla in, if she was at the vet and needed to be watched for the rest of the day, or if I was leaving town after work and didn't want to drive all the way across the city to pick her up. He always said it was okay. She was really well behaved. Then a few other people brought in their dogs, and new puppies, and they were hyper or whining or barking all day, pooping in senior management offices, peeing on reports...
A few people complained, because we do host meetings with clients, and it just didn't look professional to have these dogs constantly zipping around the office. I really think it would have been fine how it was, to be allowed to bring them once in awhile out of necessity... but when people started bringing 3 or 4 dogs every single day it got a little out of control, and people weren't getting as much work done. So the management decided NO MORE DOGS. Like it has been said before, it's not fair to just say some dogs are okay and others aren't. The management actually did tell me that my dog wasn't the problem at all, she was the little angel who would just sleep on my desk all day! But I understood... it is a workplace, not a doggy daycare.
