See if the vet will give you some pain killers... wait make him.
Mine got slammed by a big dog once and was stiff for a few days. The meds made it easier on to move and on me too.

Ok how are you? have you taken a moment to have a good long cry yet.. if not do so let it out.

It is very scary for these thing to happen and in time you will move on. Notice I did not say get over it.
You have to let go of the guilt you will pack and yes you do have it even if it deep and your not showing it now.... you did not a thing wrong worth being guilty over.

So you know it took me a long time to get over the would have, coUld have, should have, after mine was nailed on leash with me right there hold the leash and well it took time. It happened fast and no matter how you relive it in your head not a thing you could have done once it got going to get it stopped.

Second get back out there walking as soon and you can in quiet places to build you confidence up and your little ones...oh and yes it is ok to carry a cane without cause you want to beat the stuffing out of the next dog that comes at yours. That is a normal feeling. Just do not do it. I carried a bear banger with me for a long time... sounds like a gun going off when you fire it never had to use it but it made me feel better.

Hugs to both of you and hang in and take it one day at a time...

Oh did I say this is not your fault.
