It's breaking my heart to know that Duke might be home alone for 16hours

Is that too much? He's used to staying home for 8-9hrs when I'm at work but I just found out about an event that I need to go to and no one can really stop by to check in on him for me since this all happened last minute.
I took him for a walk this morning before I went to work and left plenty of food, water, and toys out for him....I just hope that he'll be ok. Never had to leave him for so long before, I'm so nervous....
