You need to take him to another vet. Where in Michigan are you located? Can you take him to Michigan State Vet School? He needs to be evaluated by specialists.

First of all, a fasting blood glucose of 109 is in the normal range (65-135). Secondly, even if he is diabetic, it is a perfectly manageable disease. Lady has been diabetic for seven years and still going strong.

Lady had anesthesia many times for teeth cleaning while she was diabetic.

Both juvenile diabetes (if it is that) and liver shunts are genetic. Did you get him from a reputable breeder with a good health guarantee? Your breeder should help you with the vet expenses.
