Please get a second or even third opinion though.
I'm not sure exactly how bad ls and diabetes are together but even if he is symptomatic and can't have surgery, maybe he can be managed.
Also, there are only two or three placed in MI that do this surgery often (as far as I know) and they are closer to the East side. Have you gone to MSU?
